Motto of the Alhambra of Granada Made of Plaster

120,00€ EUR

Arabic calligraphy on a plaster relief, inspired by the ornate walls of the Alhambra and representing the Motto of the Alhambra Palace in Granada. The perfect gift for interior designers, art connoisseurs and lovers of all things Moroccan.

A unique piece of great beauty hand painted with azurite tones and touches of gold made with real gold foil, representing the Nasrid Motto: Wa La Galibah Illa Allah.

Following the traditional techniques that were selected in the time of Al Andalus in the construction of the Alhambra in Granada, and using the same materials and natural pigments, we present this plasterwork inspired by the Islamic Art that decorates the walls of this monument.

This piece is a detailed recreation of the walls of the Alhambra. The original piece is carved by hand, so that later, through the manufacture of molds, a serial reproduction can be made. Even so, the painting and decoration of the piece is a completely manual process.

Plaster craft atelier

AL AIRE ART

It is an artisan workshop committed to the recovery of the original techniques used by the Hispanic-Muslim artisans. These artisans reached their artistic peak with the Nasrid dynasty, founded in 1238 by Muhammad lbn Yusuf Ibn Nasr and ended with the reign of Muhammad XII (Boabdil), on January 2, 1492, with the surrender of the city of Granada to the Catholic Monarchs, which became the last Muslim king of the Iberian Peninsula.

A long trajectory

Thanks to more than 20 years of experience in the field of conservation and restoration of works of art, we have had the opportunity to have in our hands a large number of original pieces, thus being able to examine in detail those craft techniques that have disappeared to the detriment of our culture. This, together with an arduous work of historical-artistic research, has allowed us to create a collection of original pieces in which we faithfully reproduce the plasterwork that once covered the walls of the Alhambra in all its splendor.

The elaboration of our pieces begins by obtaining a plaster of the highest quality, starting from a chemical composition identical to those of the Alhambra so that the base of the piece has the same reaction when it comes to polychrome and maintain its texture both visually and tactilely.

Preserving traditional techniques

The polychrome is made with pure lazurite (micronized lapis lazuli stone) used with the egg tempera technique. The gilding is done with the technique used in the Nasrid period, always using 24 carat gold leaf in the pieces that incorporate the technique. Both the polychrome and the gilding is done piece by piece, giving a unique character to each of the pieces we make.

The framing in the case of the pieces so conceived, is always made in natural woods dyed with dyes of own elaboration and polished with pure beeswax, in order to confer a delicate touch to each of our woods.

The labeling of the pieces in the back area, assures each customer that the piece has left our workshop and has not been manipulated afterwards.
